About
Hi!
I’m Derek Marshall, known as Ratcliffe on the Yorkshire Divers web forums, and this is my DeepStop site. I’m a PADI Rescue Diver with just over 80 dives to my name so far, and enjoying getting wet again after an almost 8 year gap in my diving, due to various reasons.
Since getting onto YD, I’ve dived with aloads of people from there, all of which are great people, and good divers as well. I’ve had some really good dives, many in Stoney Cove, but I have had a holiday in Tenerife in June and can’t wait to get out there again ASAP! I’ve also done a trip down to Plymouth to dive the Scylla and the JEL which has been an ambition of mine since I first learnt to dive back in 1994, so that was a great moment.
Outside of diving, I play field hockey for a team in Loughborough, although we don’t tell to pull up any trees, I’m having a great time playing, and I am kept very busy in goal for them! I also support the ice hockey version of the game, and I follow the Solihull Barons in the English Premier League.
I have a car, a really beat up Escort, but my main mode of transport is my motorbike. I have a BMW F650CS (The Scarver) and she’s called Rosie for reasons that would be obvious if you saw the bike. I’ve done a few holidays on the bike, the best being a European tour last summer, although I have been to the Isle of Man Manx Grand Prix 3 times on the bike now and have booked again for this years event.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings, enjoy the site, and I might even update it occasionally!
