Well, I promised ages ago that I would post a quick review on this book, but it has taken me a while as it took me absolutely ages to get through the book.  I have to say that I was fairly disappointed in this book.  Having read Shadow Divers, and learning a bit about the Rouse’s through that, I thought this would be a good insight into them, and their diving, and I suppose it was, but what I felt let it down was the author’s writing style.  I felt whilst reading the book that the author was making the Rouse’s out to be larger than life characters and some kind of diving gods, which when you look at the amount of scrapes they tended to get into, would suggest the opposite.

I felt the author also tended to head off into praising his own diving with far too much of “Well, when I dived this”, and those sorts of comments.

Despite me sounding pretty negative about that book, I am sure that many of you out there will find it a fascinating read, I think its just that the style of writing got on my nerves throughout the book.
