YD Stoney Cove “Freeze Yer Bits Off” Gig 2006

Well, I had a great time at Stoney Cove yesterday, meeting up with lots of YD’ers that I haven’t had a chance to meet before.  After hosting LisaR for the night on Friday, we got up at 7, and after a fairly leisurely hour, loaded the cars and headed over to Stoney, which is fortunately only 10 miles away for me.  Arriving at 8.30 we were surprised to only be the 3rd and 4th cars into the top car park (gee, we almost made the bottom car park at 8.30!) we took our tanks down to the shop to be filled and then made acquaintances with some of the YDers down in the bottom car park.

I met up with Chas49, who I had previously arranged to dive with, and after another leisurely hour getting my kit down to the bottom car park and suiting up, we eventually dropped in from the slipway and did a 31 minute dive down to the Stanegarth - more on that later…

After the dive, spent a pleasureable few hours nattering with YDers before showering and heading into the bar for more chat and a beer.

Once we were kicked out of the Cove pub, we headed down to the Mill on the Soar, where a great evening of food and beer (or coke for us drivers) was had, rounding off a great, if cold day)

I made a lot of new friends, and met again a number of divers who I have already dived with from Yorkshire Divers.  In addition to everyone having a lot of fun, a lot of money was raised for the MND charity, after Helen FH put in a lot of great work, and many people donating prizes…

Back in the water at last… Stoney Cove

    Saturday 25th Feb
Last weekend was the Annual YD Winter Warmer Gig held at Stoney Cove. About 50 or 60 YDers descended on the inland dive site at various times throughout the day to “enjoy” the cold waters of quarry diving.
